What is LED Light Therapy At Burgundy Skin & Beauty?
LED Light Therapy at Burgundy Skin & Beauty is a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to support different processes within the skin. Unlike UV light, professional LED treatments use selected wavelengths of visible and near-infrared light and do not tan the skin. We use medical-grade LED technology in our dedicated LED room, so you can enjoy it as a relaxing standalone treatment or as part of a wider skin programme. There are no needles, no heat-based resurfacing and minimal downtime, making it one of our most versatile treatments.
Treatment Time: Sessions are relatively quick, with exact timing determined by the LED protocol and device used, as confirmed by your practitioner at consultation.
Treatment Areas: Primarily facial skin. Your Burgundy skin specialist will confirm the treatment area best suited to your goals during consultation.
How LED Light Therapy Works
Different wavelengths of LED light penetrate the skin to different depths and interact with cells through a process known as photobiomodulation. Rather than resurfacing or removing layers of skin, the light energy is absorbed by cellular structures and can influence biological processes associated with cellular energy, repair, inflammation and tissue recovery. Your Burgundy skin specialist selects the appropriate LED protocol, whether red, blue or near-infrared, according to your individual skin and treatment goals.

LED is one of our easiest treatments to relax into. You simply lie comfortably in our dedicated LED Light Therapy Room while the light is positioned at the appropriate distance from your skin. There's no needling or exfoliation involved, and most clients find the session extremely relaxing, an ideal opportunity to switch off while your skin benefits. Protective eyewear will be used where appropriate, according to the equipment protocol.
-
This depends on why you're having LED Light Therapy. When targeting a specific concern, a course of several sessions over a number of weeks may be recommended, as LED works best as a progressive, cumulative treatment. For general skin maintenance, sessions can then be spaced further apart. Your Burgundy skin specialist will recommend a schedule suited to your skin and the protocol being used, and LED can also be incorporated between other facials such as microneedling, professional peels or radio frequency treatments.
-
No significant downtime is typically associated with LED Light Therapy itself, and your skin shouldn't peel or require recovery in the way it might following microneedling or a more intensive resurfacing treatment. If your LED session forms part of the aftercare for another advanced procedure, any downtime experienced will generally relate to that treatment rather than the LED itself.
-
Some clients notice their skin looking calmer or fresher shortly after treatment, but LED is best understood as a progressive treatment, with benefits that build cumulatively over a course of sessions. Results and individual responses vary from person to person, which is why regular sessions are often recommended when working towards a specific skin goal.y.

LED Light Therapy requires no specific downtime or recovery routine, though your practitioner may offer guidance tailored to your skin and treatment goals. It's important to let your therapist know about any medications, health changes or anything that may make your skin unusually sensitive to light, as certain medications and medical conditions can affect suitability. Continuing your normal skincare routine, alongside daily SPF, will help support your results between sessions.
Practitioner & Safety Note
LED Light Therapy at Burgundy Skin & Beauty is carried out by a qualified and trained practitioner. Suitability is assessed before every treatment, as certain medications, medical conditions and photosensitivity can affect whether LED is appropriate. Results and individual responses vary from person to person, and any risks are discussed fully as part of your consultation.
